Children with Prader-Willi syndrome may receive relief from sleep disorders after undergoing an adenotonsillectomy, suggests a new study from Nationwide Children’s Hospital published in the November print issue of the Archives of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery.

Study Sees Reduced C-Section Births in Amish Community

A birthing center set up specifically for women in a Wisconsin Amish community may point the way to reducing the high rate of cesarean-section births in the United States, according to a new study.

Women in the Amish community were far less likely to have a C-section than national averages and they also had more positive outcomes with vaginal births.

The 17-year study by the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health was published in the November/December issue of Annals of Family Medicine.

Researchers are sequencing human genomes, cataloging the variation in people's genetic code – the As, Ts, Gs, and Cs of human DNA that serve as each individual’s biological blueprint – to get a broader view of human health, a deeper knowledge of human genetic history, and a clearer understanding of why some people develop certain diseases while others do not.
